1863, 10 cent blue, ´frame lines´. Three full framelines and at left part of frame at top, deep impression with fresh color, tied by bold Mobile, Ala., Aug 17 double circle postmark, to Chunnenuggee Alabama, tiny crease and toned, part of flap missing, otherwise fine. With clear four frame lines an Extremely gem, an immaculate exhibition item.

1863, 10 cent blue single, tied by grid cancel to cover addressed to Spartanburg, S.C.; multicolored adhesive label with multicolored Seven-Star Stars and Bars in circular frame over ´SC´ with OUR FLAG over SC (Southern Congress) at upper left; cover tiny order crease, otherwise fine, stickers are typically untied, as they were not stamps and thus did not need to be canceled. (C.S.A. Catalog ST-1; $2,500).

1863, Turned and Reused: Jefferson Davis 10 c. blue tied to reused cover by LAKE CITY FLA DEC/3 cds. to Welaka Fla. The cover was turned and reused with WELAKA FLA DEC/16 full bold cds. matching straight line ´Paid´ handstamp and manuscript ´10´ rate, some light wear, otherwise fine. A choice strike and a scarce cover from ´Stephens´ correspondence, he must have received this letter Dec/9 and due to the shortage of paper, turned and reused within a week.

1863, 10 cent blue, left sheet margin, rough separated at right, tied by ´Bristol V. & T. R.R.´ dateless  Virginia and Tennessee railroad station circular postmark, on fresh homemade cover to Grayson County, missing backflap, otherwise fine, a magnificent quality example of this rare and desirable Confederate railway cover.

1863, 10 cent blue good margin single tied by red ´Petersburg Nov/25, Va.´ cds. on cover to Patrick Co. Va., cover very fine.

1863, 10 cent blue. large margins, tied by ´Charleston, S.C. Nov/23 1863´ double-circle datestamp on adversity cover made from a pay order ‘Charleston received in a good order from A.Laffith & Brother at the…Depository’ addressed to Gourdins, S.C. Gourdins was a station on the North East Railroad in Williamsburg District. The P.O. there was discontinued by the US in 1860 and the Confederate Post Office re-established it in 1863. A scarce destination.

1863, 10 cent blue, jumbo margins all around showing part of bottom stamp, tied nicely stuck Atlanta, Ga. JUN/26 cds. on blue cover to Eufaula Ala., tiny spots, otherwise very fine.

1863, Jefferson Davis 10 c blue, large margined example showing full outer framelines and apparent left sheet margin, tied by manuscript pen cancel on folded letter sheet from Bloomingdale to York District, South Carolina. The manuscript cancellation is clear and does not detract from the portrait, very fine.

1863, 10 c. blue, wide margins, with part of left stamp, tied to cover by clear ‘FARMINGTON DEC/2’ cds., addressed to Wife of General M.C.M. Hammond Hamburg S.C., flaw on top, otherwise fine.

1863, 10 c. greenish-blue with wide margins tied to envelope by MOBILE OCT/15/1863 cds. addressed to Lauderdale Miss. inside a four page letter to his sister about the wounded and dead. The letter sheet is embossed with a marine coat of arms and ships, fine and very attractive.

1863, 10 cent blue. 4 covers showing different colours and papers, various towns Hillsboro, Richmond and Macon, ms. ‘Via Lynchburg’, few flaws, fine appearance.

10 c. blue tied to selfmade cover by "CHARLESTON SC Jul/24" cds., showing inside print “The Petition of the City Council of Charleston State of South Carolina.....”, addressed to Camden S.C., fine and a very scarce usage.

1863/64, 10 c. blue, good margins all around, tied by cork grid to cover made from listing sheet with ms. ‘Clocks, Bows, Pistols, Cattle, Horses…’, ´Canton, Mi, Dec 20´ cds. alongside, addressed to “Col. O. P. Amacker Care of Amos Kent Esq. Osyka Pike Co., Miss.” Lt. Col. Obadiah Pearson Amacker was a well known Confederate officer and lawyer.

1863, 10 cent greenish-blue, upper left sheet corner margin (large margin into bottom stamp and closed at right), tied by neat Amelia C.H. NOV/23 Va. cds. to envelope, very fine.

20 c. blueish green, huge margins, tied by "Louisburgh APR/6" circular datestamp to small cover to S.Ca., very fine.

1861/62, two different postal stationery envelopes G. Washington 3 c. orange, each cancelled MOBILE ALA. FEB 1862 and MOBILE ALA. Mar/18/1861, addressed to Richmond Virginia., few spots, otherwise fine pair.

1861, Confederate State Usages of U.S. Stamps: SOUTHWICK MS. APR/2 ms. 1861 on cover bearing G. Washington 3 c. red-brown, addressed to Montgomery Ala., tiny crease, otherwise fine. 

1861, Montgomery Ala., Mar/25 1861 good strike of cds. ties U.S. 1857, 3 cent dull red, rich color, on cover addressed to Jane H. Wilkinson at Southwick Mass.; tiny flaw on top and spots, otherwise fine. The Confederate States of America was formed on Feb. 4th 1861 at Montgomery Ala. The city remained the capital of the new nation until May 28, 1861, when the government was moved to Richmond, Virginia. The Confederate Post Office Department did not take over the postal system until June 1, 1861 and until that date the United States continued to operate the postal service in the seceded states.

1861, Foreign Mails to and from Independent and Confederate States: New Orleans LA. 25 Mar. (1861). Beautifully clear strike of large circular datestamp ties 5 c. brown, Ty. II, huge margins, scissors-separated on three sides with part of right stamp and with intact perfs, deep rich color, choice centering, on light blue folded imprint letter to Barcelona, Spain, bold "4Rs." due handstamp, backstamped London (Apr. 16, 1861) transit and Spanish receiving datestamps, tiny border toned, otherwise fine. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE UNITED STATES 5-CENT 1860 ISSUE USED TO PAY THE BRITISH OPEN MAIL RATE TO SPAIN FROM CONFEDERATE LOUISIANA. Probably fewer than ten covers to Spain are known with stamps used in the Confederate States.

Postmasters` Provisionals: Milledgeville GA, 5 c black entire, Type I, provisional "Paid 5" marking at upper right with control marking at left, matching "Milledgeville Ga. Aug 13" datestamp at left on 1861 cover to Louisville Madison Cou, Georgia, on reverse embossed ‘EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT GEORGIA’, slightly toned, otherwise fine strikes and cover.

1861, Raleigh Paid 5 cent red, poor provisional handstamp with blue ´Raleigh N.C./Nov 21´ cds. on cover to Salem, N.C., minor edge wear, otherwise very fine. (Scott $600), signed Dietz.

Coast Line Stage Company, six horse drawn stagecoach design, on cover franked with 3c green Bank Note, tied by cork cancel, postmarked San Jose (1 Apr), with original enclosure on matching illutrated letterhead,  (aside from the removal of "Coast Line Stage Co / F.B. & C." on the coach), datelined "San Jose, Mch 31, 1874", written by William Buckley, Superintendent of the company, to Dr. Thomas Flint, one of the firm's owners, roughly opened at left, but a rare cover, particularly desirable with the enclosure sent between two principal figures in the firm.

Everts, Wilson & Co's Express, Paid, 1861, ornamental printed frank on 3c. Nesbitt postal stationery cover, struck with large blue oval “Everts, Davis & Co's Express / Forbestown / Feb 27 1861”, with year in manuscript, alongside blue oval “Wells, Fargo & Co / Marysville / Feb 28” datestamp, or Oroville, California, slightly reduced at left, otherwise quite fresh, a rare Everts & Wells Fargo conjunctive use, illustrating the connection in Marysville, of which only a small number of examples are recorded.

"VIA PANAMA" directive with illustrated sidewheel steamship design, 1860 (April 5), with imprint of Geo H. Bell, stationer, franked with 1859 10c green, tied by neatly-struck San Francisco c.d.s., to New York, reduced at top and sides and repaired in places, a few small edge tears, but a scarce illustrated route directive, with 1979 Philatelic Foundation certificate.

1900, U.S. Postal Station, Paris Exposition, May 19, 1900. Three strikes of duplex postmark (Bomar type P00-01) tying three 5 c green and 10 c black (corner flaw) on cover to Germany with receiving backstamp Wiesbaden 20.5.00 and blue crayon for taxe. Fine and the earliest known usage of this postmark!

1928/31, Five First Flight covers American Clipper to Mexico, Guatemala, Rep. Dominicana, including FF Dallas-San Antonio, FF San Juan Pittsburgh, appropriate flight cachets, fine.

1928/33, Three First Flight covers American Clipper to Cuba, Havana, Santiago and Nuevitas, additional FF Honduras - Guatemala 1933 with "T.S. de C." overprint, appropriate flight cachets, fine.

1867/75, 3 entire letters from La Guayra to France, one part paid by 1873/76, 1 r., the other two unpaid with different taxes

Holztaube in "BERLIN C 4.7.24" nach Angora, die Flugmarke entwertet mit dem Sonderentwertungsstempel "Erster Flug Berlin-Angora BERLIN 5.7.24" und “First Trip Berlin Angora ANGORA 6.7.24”, rs. rein arab. Ankunftsstempel Angora. Marke rechts stupfe Zähnung, unten zwei kurze Zähne ansonsten einwandfreie Qualität, nur 250 derartige Belege wurden befördert, ausführliches Fotoattest Brettl BPP (2008)
