1931 "Justice for Hungary" flown card from Flint, Michigan, with pre-printed bilingual cachet, 1 c. franking, with Budapest arrival pmk, v.f. (in July, 1931, newspapers all over the world reported on the front page that two Hungarian pilots, Alexander Magyar and George Endress crossed the Atlantic Ocean from the United States to Hungary in a Lockheed-Sirius airplane named "Justice for Hungary." The flight was intended to call attention to the dismemberment of Hungary after World War I. It was a spectacular success. On July 15, 1931, the trans-Oceanic flight left Harbor-Grace for Budapest on a non-stop flight of 26 hours and 20 minutes (Charles Lindbergh\s flight in 1927 took six hours longer) and marked the first time that an airplane crossing the ocean had radio contact both with the starting and landing aerodromes. 1861, Military Addresses: Duncan G. Campbell, Care of Major W.L. Cabell, Quarter Master Gen`l A.P., Manassas Va., address on cover bearing 5 cent olive green, four good margins with bright color, diagonally crease, tied by RICHMOND Nov/23 1861 cds.; very fine appearance. William Lewis Cabell graduated from West Point in 1850. His U.S. service was primarily in the Quartermaster General`s Office and upon his resignation in 1861, was promptly assigned by the C.S.A. as Major and Chief Quartermaster to General Beauregard at Manassas. He later served on the staff of General J. E. Johnston, at which time he assisted these two officers in designing the Confederate battle flag. Transferred to the Trans-Mississippi under General Van Dorn, Cabell was of great service after the Battle of Elkhorn, when he ferried the latter`s entire command to the eastern bank of the Mississippi River. Later, he was appointed brigadier general to rank from January 20, 1863. While in command of a brigade of cavalry under General Sterling Price, he was captured on a raid into Missouri in October 1864, not being released until August 1865.
