1852, ½ b. grey blue, 2 b. olive green, and 5 b. light rose, usual mixed margins, affixed to 1852 folded cover to Modena, the 5 b. cancelled with Bologna c.d.s. (11 May), the 2 b. and ½ b. cancelled in manuscript, tying the 2 b. and 5 b., the ½ b. further tied to cover by blue Modena c.d.s., paying the 7-1/2b. rate to the Duchy of Modena, taxed upon arrival, a few trivial stains, else a most attractive three-colour franking. (18 Feb), red French entry mark and PAID (20 Feb) transit on front, reverse with “Paris a Calais 2” TPO (25 Feb) and blue Newmarket double split-ring receiver (26 Feb), upper portion of back cover removed, remaining portion partially affixed to backing card, but a desirable franking, with 1963 Alberto Diena certificate.
