1852, ½ b. grey blue, 2 b. olive green, and 5 b. light rose, usual mixed margins, affixed to 1852 folded cover to Modena, the 5 b. cancelled with Bologna c.d.s. (11 May), the 2 b. and ½ b. cancelled in manuscript, tying the 2 b. and 5 b., the ½ b. further tied to cover by blue Modena c.d.s., paying the 7-1/2b. rate to the Duchy of Modena, taxed upon arrival, a few trivial stains, else a most attractive three-colour franking. 1852, 8 b. white, block of ten, mostly good margins, into outer frameline in places, cancelled by multiple strikes of grilled lozenge obliterator, the odd small imperfection and repaired at lower left corner, but an impressive multiple, signed Alberto Diena, with 2014 Colla certificate. (Michel 9)
1852, 8 b. white horizontal pair and 50 b. blue single, tied to part 1856 cover to England by Rome c.d.s. (18 Feb), red French entry mark and PAID (20 Feb) transit on front, reverse with “Paris a Calais 2” TPO (25 Feb) and blue Newmarket double split-ring receiver (26 Feb), upper portion of back cover removed, remaining portion partially affixed to backing card, but a desirable franking, with 1963 Alberto Diena certificate.
