"HAYFA POSTA SUBESI 1287" violet all arabic postmark (Coles-W.No.52; 20 Pt.) on postcard Haifa bearing Turkey 20 pa. dull violet with transit mark "ALEXANDRIE 1/8/97" to Germany with arrival mark "WEISSER HIRSCH 25/8/97", fine and very scarce
1900, Turkey red overprint 5 cinq/5 paras on 10 para green tied by bilingual JERUSALEM 21/SEP 1900 cds. to complete "Habazeleth" newspaper, dated 21 Sept 5660, printed on 8 pages in Hebrew, ottoman 2 paras brown revenue for newspaper tax precancelled with newspaper print, folded with slight soiling, fine. (Habazeleth was a Hebrew-language newspaper published in Jerusalem in 1863 (5623-5624) and from 1870 to 1911. It operated for some time as a monthly publication, while in later years it became a biweekly and then weekly publication. Israel Dov Frumkin (1850-1914) was Habazeleth\s editor and owner). A fine and rare item.
1910, Turkey 1908 20 pa. rose postal stationery card cancelled by good strike of bilingual SAFFED datestamp (Coles-Walker fig. 87, 15 pts.) in blue, addressed to Germany and written in hebrew, very fine.
1903, picture postcard of Jericho ‘Hotel Jordan’ franked 20 pa rose tied by violet bilingual JERICHO 5.3.903 cds., alongside transit Stamboul and arrival mark Riga Russia, tiny toned, otherwise fine and very clear postmarks.
1915, YAFA SANSÜR OLUNMUSDUR extremely fine strike of Jaffa Star and Crescent censor h.s. in violet (CM3 type, unlisted in Collins) on cover bearing 1914 10 pa. green and 20 pa. brown cancelled by octagonal “Jaffa/5” d.s. (Steichele = 22/17 + 22/32). Addressed to Clerc at department of accountancy Jerusalem with arrival mark 28/9/331 (1915) some crease and faults, backflap missing. PROFI archive has only two other covers recorded, this censorship was only used for domestic mail.
