1899, Railway issue postal stationery card reply part 2 c. orange on buff written in Puerto Cortez with violet ABR/12 1899 cds., transit New Orleans LA Recd. Apr.17 99 and New York 20/APR on reverse, to Germany with arrival Lauenburg 1.5.99 and redirected to Grande with arrival mark 2.5.99, used reply parts of the Locomotive cards are extremely scarce, fine.
1925, Pioneer flight from Tela to USA, with 6 c. red-violet franking and oval "Landing Field Tela Honduras" alongside, "Via Airplane" label, fine Roessler cover. Airmail service was of great significance to Honduras, its capital Tegucigalpa isolated from the outside world, with no rail transport and with roads so poor that mule trains took up to a week to carry mail to a port on the north coast for onward transmission to other countries. The small aircraft flown by Compania Aerea Hondurena traveled the 200-kilometer distance in about an hour and a half. The pilot, Sumner B. "Sonny" Morgan flew a small number of covers, fine and scarce. Signed R.Togila.
