1872, QV Revenues: Court Fee SPECIMEN overprinted set of 17, denominations from 1a. to 1000 r. Gum washed, few toned. A very scarce set.
1848, KURRACHEE SHIPLETTER: Folded envelope bearing large red oval INDIA" and ms. ´Per Steamer to Bombay-Paid / Via Southhampton´ on top. On reverse ‘Annas 3’ was written in the red boxed “KURRACHEE SHIPLETTER” mark so the ship postage was prepaid to Bombay. London 13.1.1848 transit in red and Richmond 14.1.1848 arrival mark in blue, fine. Very early letter from Karachi.
1861, folded envelope with full content from Calcutta, cancelled boxed "India Unpaid" in black, double rate tax mark “18”, on top left “VIA SUEZ & FRANCE” in blue and “POSS.ANG.V.SUEZ MARSEILLE 12 NOV 61” cds. in red, sender cachet 'Camin & Lamouroux Calcutta" in blue, addressed to famous architect P. Nandin in Nantes, on reverse red “G.P.O. EX CALCUTTA OC.” cds. Paris transit and Nantes arrival marks, usual file fold, otherwise fine.
Die I, ½ a. indigo, good to large margins, cancelled by pen strokes and tied by diamond of bars, to entire folded up native letter with adjacent greenish blue cds. "LAHORE 8 SEP. 1857" to Mooltau, very fine

1854/55, 4 a. blue and red, Die II, Head Die III, watermark 2, a used cut-to-shape example cancelled by bold strike of "97" obliterator of (Sukkor) and ms. ‘stamped’, fine.
1859, 4 a. black on bluish, 4 stamps tied to cover front by points in diamonds and ms. pen cancel, usual perforation, route ms. "Via Bombay + Alexandria", black "INDIA PAID" in crescent with ms. 1/8 and "INDES ALEXANDRIE May 9, 59" cds. alongside, various tax marks, addressed to the Director of the British College Smyrna Turkey, fine and a scarce destination.
1856, East India, 8 a. carmine, blue glazed paper, used on cover from CALCUTTA to Bordeaux, tied by a combination of handstruck straight-line "Stamped" in blue and double octagonal "B/1" in black, dated 2 oct 1856, with boxed "INDIA/PAID" in red alongside charge mark “10”, endorsed "Via Marseille" and "P. St. Oriental", on reverse a GPO/Calcutta datestamp in red, transit mark sLyon a Paris and Paris a Bordeaux, arrival Bordeaux 3.10.56, adressee name partly cut out, otherwise a fine example of a single franking India to France.
1862, QV 1 a. brown two single (right stamp corner flaw) tied by Bombay Paid-1 AU/28 duplex to envelope, addressed to Ahmednagar with red arrival mark AU/29 62 on reverse, flaw on top, otherwise fine.
1855, 4 a. gray black, unused regummed, centered to bottom with part of top stamp, otherwise fine.
1873, QV ½ a. blue tied by Calcutta/C-1 JU/20 duplex to envelope with inside imprint ‘Bourne & Shepherd Photographers Calcutta’, one of the world’s oldest photography studios, signed by both owners, addressed to Bhagulpore with arrival mark JU/22 73 and ms. ‘paid 14th July’ on reverse, fine and scarce.
1866, Foreign Bill fiscal stamp 6 a. purple overprinted "Postage" in green, used with clear strike of blue "B/1" in octagon of Calcutta, good color on fresh paper, fine.

1948, FDC Gandhi complete set of four up to 10 rupee tied to cover by "TAJ MAHAL / BOMBAY / 15 AUG 48" first day cancellation, addressed to Ireland, tiny toned spots and 12 an. perf faults, otherwise fine and very scarce.

1931, Cover flown at leg Allahabad to Calcutta at "First Experimental Flight / By Imperial Airways England-Australia via India" franked with three copies of 1 a. tied by Allahabad 13 APR 31 cds. On reverse Calcutta 14.4.31 arrival cds., flaw on top, otherwise fine.
