L7a) with scarce temporary office cds “LYON EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE 26 SEPT. 72” alongside to folded entire to Epinac (signed Scheller), also a very scarce duo of covers with 25 centimes tied by cds “PHILIPPEVILLE ALGÉRIE 27 JUIN 76” with framed “B. M.” (Salles-Nr. 537) to folded entire to Marseille (signed Jamet and Scheller), also 25 c. blue tied by dotted lozenge “224(0)” upon arrival to Marseille with cds “PHILIPPEVILLE 20 JANV. 76 BAT. A. 1869/76, Yokohama French Office, alluring group of 11 covers, showing an impressive display of tariffs from the 1866 to 1876 period, some better items with Laureated 80 c. and 40 c. tied by Dotted Diamond  “5118” to envelope to France with alongside cds. “YOKOHAMA 15 MAI 71” (scarce 1,20 Francs tariff valid six months from January until end of June 1871), two 1876 envelopes the first one franked at the 1 Franc tariff (endorsed “Voie Française”, French paquebot to Marseille), the second at the 1,10 Francs tariff (endorsed “Via Brindisi”, British paquebot), some faults but a rare duo exhibiting both routes, also some underfranked mail, etc., some signed Calves, mixed condition.

1919–1923, specialised collection in stockbook, an extensive holding of singles, multiples, and covers, replete with notable varieties including partially perforated stamps, reverse printings, overprint errors, proofs, etc, beginning with the 1919–20 St. George and Tamar the Great issues showing a wide array of printing varieties and plate flaws, imperforate singles and blocks including a never hinged 40k red lower left corner block of thirty with tête-bêche pairs, a very fine group of six colour proofs including unissued 20k and 30k denominations, followed by a solid representation of 1920–21 overprinted issues, both perforated and imperforate, in singles and multiples, and Soviet-era issues including ten covers, noting a 1923 registered cover from Tiflis to Berlin and a mixed-franking registered cover with Overprint Types I and II from Tiflis to Leipzig, along with a 1923 700,000r on 2k green Coat of Arms imperforate block of fifty with sheet margins and five gutter pairs, offered  with the Ashford handbook “Georgia: Postal Cancellations 1918–1923”, the odd fault noted but overall sound and desirable, a rarely offered holding of this depth and ideal for the specialist.

1786/1840, diverse and scarce group of 20 18th- and 19th-century postal history covers to and from Jersey, including a rare 1871 ballon monté cover (repaired, certificate Roumet 2018), forwarding agent usages (1818–1831), five “Southampton Ship Letter” markings (1775–1840), an early 1786 forwarded letter via Thomas Durrell, and a broad range of mostly pre-stamp mail from 1776 to 1840, mostly fine condition

NEWSPAPERS: 1831/1945, ‘Chronique de Jersey’, 13.8.1831, 3.1.1835 to 26.12.1935 and 17.2.1941 to 20.11.1941 and ‘The Evening Post’ 28.6.1940 to 9.5.1945 as well as a single copy of ‘La Nouvelle Chronique de Jersey’ from 19.11.1859, a total of just over 1000 copies, probably the most extensive and almost complete collection of daily newspapers from the island of Jersey apart from a few issues. To our knowledge, there is probably only one more comprehensive collection in addition to this collection, which is owned by the Jersey Public Library. Apart from the usual signs of storage and folding, mostly in good to very good condition, in 22 folders, further 36 volume collection “La haule Books”, in six large cartons

1840/1891, Great Britain & British Commonwealth, selection of  used classic singles and covers, over thirty stamps, strongest in Great Britain, with two four-margin Penny Blacks, range of Surface Printed including 1883 2sh6p lilac, 1882 10sh. slate (significantly repaired), and 1891 £1 green (reperforated on one side, repair), Malta, Australian States including Tasmania and Victoria, Cape of Good Hope three-margin 6d. Hope, etc, three British covers accompany including 1 d. black from Pimlico to Surrey, 5sh Embossed on 1852 cover to the United States, and 1861 Hastings to Mauritius via Marseilles, quality varies, with much being quiet fresh, much fine or better.
