1852, 1 s. rose carmine, ample or better margins all around, centrally-struck with black lozenge grid cancel, some light uniform soiling, but a very fine centered example. (Michel 11)

1867, Papal coat of arms on glossy paper 2 c. on green, horizontal strip of five with gutter between 3rd. and 4th stamp (separating group III and IV), fresh color and good margins all around, tied by cds. “TOSCANELLA 12 AGO 68” to folded letter to Vetralla, left stamp minor corner crease, otherwise a very fine and rare entire, with only three gutter pairs on cover known, a.o. signed E. 1867, 5 c. greenish blue, “interspazio” horizontal pair, tied to 1868 folded cover to Montaldo di Castro by mute segmented lozenge of the Rome-Ceprano railway, with corresponding c.d.s. (3 Aug) on reverse, further backstamped with framed “Genazzano” and partial c.d.s., right stamp with light crease, heavily horizontal file hold, but a rare franking, signed Maurizio Raybaudi-Massilia and others, with 2005 Bottacchi certificate. The first specimen presents the variety “double t,” small repair but of fresh and very fine appearance, a rarity, illustrated and described in “The Stamps of Maurice Burrus, Old Italian States” (pages 23/24). Upon arrival, charged with “8” (Soldi) for a single weight cover. A true rarity, the majority of the few registered covers are canceled with mute grill cancellation, like this a very exceptional and attractive Italian States and European rarity, a.o. signed E. Diena and A. Diena and certificates Bottachi (2001) and Cardillo (2015)

1861, 80 c. yellow orange, three large margins, touched at foot, tied to 1862 folded cover to Paris by Torino c.d.s. (12 Sep), red “P.D.” and “Italie / Lanslebourg” (15 Sep) French entry c.d.s. on front, reverse with partial c.d.s. receiver, piece from back flap cut from removal of wax seal, else a fine single franking.

1859, 2 gr. light blue, Plate III, horizontal pair, with 10 gr. dark blue single affixed partially overtop, fair to large margins, all struck with horseshoe cancel, on folded letter to Genova, postmarked Palermo (4 Jul), handstamped “VIA DI / SARZANA”,  reverse with red boxed arrival backstamp, tear to back from removal of seal, horizontal fold, else a fine overland usage, signed Alberto Diena.

1851-2, 1 c. black on grey single and three 1 s. yellow on blue singles, usual mixed margins, tied to folded cover to Massa Marittima by Rombi mute obliterator, oval “S.V.” ("Servizio Veloce") struck in black, reverse with partial c.d.s. arrival backstamp, wrinkles and some staining at left, but a scarce franking. 1857, Lion 6 cr. dark-blue, block of four, fresh color and wide margins, with portions of adjoining stamps at bottom, used, a very rare and attractive entire, an exceptional piece, only very few blocks of four known, certificate E. Diena (1989) (Sassone 15b)
