1863, Coat of Arms 5 k. black/blue together with Russia 1866 1 k. black/yellow horizontal pair, fresh colours, tied by cds “S. PETERBURG 1 AOUT 1881” to 7 k. on 10 k. brown postal stationery envelope to London, reverse departure repeated and arrival faint oval mark “REGISTERED …”, the franking paying the correct 14 kopek rate (tariff of 20 March 1879). The envelope roughly opened, slight peripheral toning and back flap missing, otherwise very fine. A very scarce usage, from the famous Breitfuss correspondence, certificate Citerne BPP (2025)

A remarkable cover, probably the earliest registered mail from the Russian Post Office at the Treaty Port of Cheefoo (opened 1896) and an extremely scarce registration mark
