1866, 8 baj. black on white, two pairs on cover front only from Rome to New York via England, each tied by diamond grill cancels with ROMA / 1 FEB 66 double-circle cds. alongside, endorsed “via d’Angleterre” on top and struck with green oval forwarding agent cachet “Ditta Freeborn & Co / Paid / Roma” and boxed “P.P.” denoting full prepayment, with red French transit (5 Feb) and faint red New York "Paid All" arrival on face, light edge wear but clean strikes and fresh multiples to a scarce destination.
