1851-1862, a well-developed mint & used collection in two large stockbooks, comprising 1851 Vittorio Emanuele II imperforates through to 1862 printings, carefully-arranged and frequently annotated by the collector, noting postmarks, varieties, etc, replete with a striking range of shades, particularly among the later issues an impressive collection that took tremendous effort to assemble, some questionable or faulty examples to be expected in a holding of this size and nature, selection of forgeries/reprints mounted on page and included for reference, but uncommonly fresh and far better quality than usually encountered, an ideal nucleus for an expansive study of this fascinating area.

1851/, collection of over thirty covers, comprising three 1851 20 c. blue single frankings, three 1854 20 c. blue single frankings, the balance being later Vittorio Emanuele II frankings, most from the Fourth Issue, including a  range frankings, most 10 c. brown or 20 c. blue, noting foreign destinations including Great Britain, France, and Switzerland, a wide range of shades and postmarks, etc, condition slightly mixed in places but of overall superior quality to what is often found, the frankings typically fresh and bright, many expert signed including Diena, Raybaudi, etc, and three certificates accompany, a desirable group.

1859 Ferdinand II collection of over 100 mint and used stamps, neatly arranged by denomination, a solid study of the issue with mostly singles and a few pairs, showing a striking range of shades with collector's annotations attempting plate and shade distinctions, condition slightly mixed with some faults as expected, but overall superior to what is typically found in such holdings, many stamps signed including by Alberto and Enzo Diena, Raybaudi, etc., with a small group of certificates including Bolaffi and Colla, a desirable and fresh collection, mostly fine or better and ideal for expansion.

1859, group of seven covers with Ferdinand II frankings, comprising primarily 2c frankings including four single frankings in a range of shades from light to deep blue, one cover with a pair, one with three singles, and one bearing 1c and 2c singles (this signed Alberto Diena), some small faults as typically encountered, mostly fine, an attractive and useful group.

1851–60, collection of over 120 stamps in a stockbook, mint and used, predominantly a study of the Lion of Tuscany issues, neatly arranged by denomination with considerable effort made to identify shades, plate flaws, postmarks, and proofs, mostly singles with a few pairs, the odd dubious example as typical of such material, condition slightly mixed though superior to what is often found in holdings of this scope, many four-margin examples throughout, numerous stamps signed including by Oliva and Diena, with four certificates accompanying; a desirable collection, mostly fine or better and ideal for the specialist.

1851–60, group of sixteen covers with Lion of Tuscany or Cross of Savoy frankings, nine bearing 1851–59 Lion  issues including single frankings of the 4 cr. and 9 cr., including one 9 cr. cover to Paris, the remainder with Cross of Savoy issues including a 1 c. on newspaper and 5 c. pair on cover, illustrating a wide range of rates and usages, many with expert signatures including Alberto and Enzo Diena,  some small faults as to be expected, but a better than average group with many attractive items, much fine or better,

1860/2001, mint never hinged/unused and used collection, incl. Italian Levant and Postage Dues, a few better values in the semi-modern, some occasional faults in the early issues, overall in fine condition, neatly housed in 4 albums

1860/2000(ca.,) mostly use collection with duplicates and better items on album pages in folder

1860/2000, used, unused and mint never hinged collection and stock in 2 stockbooks

1861/2016, large mint never hinged/unused and used collection, incl. officials, postage due and military and parcel stamps, starting from the Emanuel II. Napolitan issues, some better sets like Mi.-Nr. 188-193 (the latter without gum), 445-446 unused, 479-487 unused, 505-513 unused, etc., in the inter-war years a few questionable cancellations, small part of modern facial values, somewhat mixed condition in the early years as to be expected, overall in very good condition, neatly housed in 9 hingeless albums

1861/1945, unused and mint stamps in small stockbook, including Mi-No. 56/57, 94, parcel 1/6, etc. 

1861/1990, several used, unused and mint never hinged collections including Vatican, with some better sets in 11 binders/albums

1914/23, ca. 65 Briefe, Karten und Ganzsachen ab Österreich-Belege ab ca.1872 mit Stempel u.a. aus Laibach, Zensuren, interssanten Frankaturen mit u.a. R-Brief mit Mi.-Nr. 19 (45x!) und bedarfsgebrauchte Ganzsachen

1941/43, extensive mint never hinged/unused and used collection, including postage dues, many better values with Mi.-Nr. 6 mint never hinged (signed Diena), 22 unused (signed Diena), 31 mint never hinged (insignificant corner perf crease, still fine, signed Diena), P4 mint never hinged (a couple of toned spots, certificate A. diena), P11 mint never hinged (certificate A. Diena), unissued Sassone-Nr. 34 mint never hinged (signed Diena), etc., together with a complete run of the 1923 Italian Occupation series, many signed, except for the occasional fault in overall excellent condition

1893/1940 used and unused collection with some better material, nicely arranged in original Landsmans album 

1890/1942, Covers & Cards (18)  from Italian Colonies including Cirenaica, Libya, Eritrea and Fiume, air mails and censor in folder

1924-35, The Five Month Experiment ‘Aero Espresso Italiana’ collection on Exhibit leaves, the superbly written up collection showing the link between Italy and Istanbul via Athens, with cover from Brindisi to Constantinople and return flight (1927)  showing Airmail 1 lire 20 c. brown, further two early flights from Turkey 1924 with one cover Istanbul-Paris and one card Istanbul-Prag-Weimar, from the Greek leg with 1926 Airmail usages (incl. a mint set), 1926-30 Postes Aeriennes Stamboul eight covers, A.E.I. labels, Airmail label sheet, and original 1926 Booklet for the new service, Winter time-table for 1933/34 etc. A superb collection.

1852, ½ b. grey blue, vertical “interspazio” pair, margins into framlines on three sides, affixed to reverse of 1854 folded letter, cancelled with “JESSY” straight-line, free strike on front, an uncommon franking.  (Michel 1a)

1852, 8 b. white, corner strip of four, clear to very large margins, cancelled with Roma c.d.s., partial red PAID c.d.s. at lower right, a fine multiple, signed Alberto Diena, with 2014 Colla certificate.

1852, ½ b. grey blue, 2 b. olive green, and 5 b. light rose, usual mixed margins, affixed to 1852 folded cover to Modena, the 5 b. cancelled with Bologna c.d.s. (11 May), the 2 b. and ½ b. cancelled in manuscript, tying the 2 b. and 5 b., the ½ b. further tied to cover by blue Modena c.d.s., paying the 7-1/2b. rate to the Duchy of Modena, taxed upon arrival, a few trivial stains, else a most attractive three-colour franking. 1852, ½ b. lilac rose, margins close to into frameline on three sides, large at right, tied to small piece by grilled lozenge, a challenging shade of this issue, fine, signed Luigi Gazzi. (Michel 1d)

1852, 2 b. olive green, two vertically bisected singles, tied to 1864 folded letter to Spoleto by lozenge cancel, postmarked with Roma double-circle c.d.s. (8 Mar) alongside tax mark, reverse with indistinct transit and Spoleto c.d.s. receiver (9 Mar) in red, most unusual. Cert. Colla (2014). (Michel 3a)

1867, 2 b. “bianco verdastro”, upper left corner block of ten, showing positions 1-5 and 10-15, to good to large margins with sheet margins at top and left, large part original gum, with some light disturbance in places, pencil notations in margins, noting plate flaws visible in framelines in positions 1 and 3, a fine-very fine multiple, signed Alberto Diena. 1852, 3 b., 4 b., 5 b. and 6 b. four unused stamps. all unsused lightly hinged, fresh and fine, three signed Bühler and Raybaudi

1852, 4 b. black on gray brown (Scott 5c), unused, incredibly fresh with dividing lines on all sides, very fine. Quite on extraordinary example of this rare stamp, signed G. Bühler and A. Diena

1852, 8 b. white, block of ten, mostly good margins, into outer frameline in places, cancelled by multiple strikes of grilled lozenge obliterator, the odd small imperfection and repaired at lower left corner, but an impressive multiple, signed Alberto Diena, with 2014 Colla certificate. (Michel 9)

1852, 8 b. white horizontal pair and 50 b. blue single, tied to part 1856 cover to England by Rome c.d.s. (18 Feb), red French entry mark and PAID (20 Feb) transit on front, reverse with “Paris a Calais 2” TPO (25 Feb) and blue Newmarket double split-ring receiver (26 Feb), upper portion of back cover removed, remaining portion partially affixed to backing card, but a desirable franking, with 1963 Alberto Diena certificate.
