BURRUS, MAURICE; sale of his stamp collection, between 1963-1967, the largest in the world at the time, was auctioned off by various auction companies (there had been a first auction catalogue by Shanahan in 1959, but the auction never took place). In 1967 Herbert Trenchard already counted 75 country catalogues known to him (see: Philatelic Literature Review, Sept. 30, 1967, pp. 120-125). This lot contains 78 different original catalogues from various companies (incl. the Shanahan sale), as well as a folder with original correspondence to/from Burrus and copies of various lists and studies. In this richness an absolutely unusual lot. Here only a short overview:
