1898/1903, King Carlos 50 reis, horizontal pair, used on envelope to Sommerset, Cape Colony, pasted over with British “V.R. OPENED UNDER MARTIAL LAW” pink censor label, adjacent "RETURNED LETTER OFFICE NATAL 6 3 00", boxed violet "STOPPED BY CENSOR/RETURN TO SENDER" and blue framed “Retourne a lenvoveur / levovide ao remettente”. A fine and rare cover during the Boer War.
1793/1813 (ca.), 90 covers from the Département Conquis and Armée d´Italie, unfolding with a fine group of military and shipowner Rougement archive mail, some better items with December 1811 entire letter sent from the corsair captain on the “Themis" concerning the capture of an English ship and the seizure of its codfish cargo, followed by a strong section of Départements Conquis with some Port Payé, including 1806 folded letter to Genova with two-line “ETRURIE ET LUCQUES PAR GENES”, 1810 folded letter from Cremone to Parma with superb red three-line “Raume D´ITALIE PAR PLAISANCE”, undated lettersheet without text to Pise with scarce red two-line “PRINtéDE LUQUES PAR PISE”, three-line “P.19.P. PORTO-FERRAIO ISLE D´ELBE” on 1809 folded letter to Marseilles, 1804 single sheet signed by the military commandant of the Elba Island “Brusca”, etc., mixed condition, neatly housed in one album
